- Fire Resistance Tests of Translucent Facades

Abstract. A scenario of fire development in buildings with translucent facades and its influence on the behaviour of structures of external non-bearing walls are considered. The substantiation of the selection of the method of samples fabrication, ways of heat effect on a sample, criteria of fire resistance at various types of translucent piers are presented. Basic principles of a new draft standard of fire resistance test of translucent facades are stated. Recommendations on the active protection of translucent facades with non-fire resistant glazing against fire are made.

- Design Procedure of a Building with Seismic Isolation System for Seismic Impact

Abstract. The systems of seismic isolation installed in buildings and facilities must be accessible and reliable. Methods of the design of these systems should also be clear in order that their correct operation is not based only on the complex design calculations. The article offers a simplified method of calculation of buildings with systems of seismic protection and analyzes the reaction of similar buildings on the impact of seismic loads.

- The Use of Cylindrical Forgings of Big Diameter in Unique Building Steel Structures

Abstract. - Finding Normal Modes In Seismic Analysis Of Structures

- Dependence of Conditions of Glued Timber Structures on Ambient Air Humidity

Abstract. The initiation of shrinkage cracks in large-span glued laminated structures is analyzed on the basis of complex investigations of bearing glued timber structures of buildings of various purposes exploited under various temperature and humidity conditions. The conclusion about the direct dependence of their conditions on the air humidity is made. It is recommended to maintain the relative humidity of air within the limits of 45-60%.

An example of the calculation of shallow cylindrical shell using the theory of small elastic-plastic deformations, the continuation method, and the procedure of the modified Runge-Kutta method is presented.

Scientific suggestions about standardization of physical-technical and mechanical values of the efficient heat insulation making it possible to substantiate the reliability coefficients in the method of limiting states on the probabilistic base are made. These suggestions are realized by authors on the statistic basis of more than 50 000 tests that makes it possible to create, for the first time, the bank of heat insulation probabilities which gives the exhaustive reliability evaluations for their inclusion into technical specifications, standards, building code, sets of rules and other scientific-technical documentation.

- Experimental Studies of Strength and Deformations of Inner Layer of External Wall for Out-of-Plane Bending

Abstract. The full-scale tests of fragments of external walls of 15 cm thickness made of claydite concrete stones of M75 mark for out-of-plane bending have been conducted. Under real construction conditions the calculation scheme of a pier depends largely on the quality of installation and first of all on the flexibility of the top node of fastening of the wall to the bottom of ceiling.
Experimental studies formed the basis of calculations with the use of the finite element method which made it possible to specify the stress-strain state of the piers masonry at various stages with due regard for the changing design scheme.
The result of this research is the development of engineering methods of calculation of thin external walls with floor-cutting for wind loads transmitted by adjacent infillings of window openings, and for loads from ventilation facades.

- Seismic Resistance of Anchor Fasteners for Fixing Sandwich Panels to Metal Frame

Abstract. Results of the experimental studies of seismic resistance of anchor fasteners of "Gunnebo Industries" Company used for fixing of sandwich panels (with thickness 150-300mm) to the steel frame of buildings. Dynamic tests of sandwich panels were conducted on a vibroplatform with two degrees of freedom.
According to the results of tests the recommendations on the use of "Gunnebo Industries" fasteners when constructing the commercial, office and warehouse buildings built in areas with seismicity of 7-9 points are given.

- Building Intelligence: Formula

Abstract. Based on the research performed by the author, a universal formal definition of the concept of the Intelligent Building in terms of theoretical cybernetics, set theory, system analysis and functional analysis (measure theory, function theory), mathematical logic is proposed for the first time including the absolute and design levels of abstraction, and the abstract definition of the Building Intelligence Quotient (BIQ) that can be extended to any problems of building of applied theories, structural design practice and construction management practice. Relevant formal fundamentals of proposed definitions are presented, and the prospects for the development of designated areas in terms of technical regulation of the sector are discussed.

- Research in Adhesive Ability of Composite Binder on the Basis of Sodium Polysilicates

Abstract. Results of the research in the influence of the concentration of a binder manufactured of sodium polysilicates of different modularity obtained as outside of the composition and also directly in the composition on their adhesive ability are presented. The high strength of the glued joint of a concreted contact zone is achieved when the concentration of a bundle of polysilicates obtained in the composition. The creation of sodium polysilicates of high modularity using this method reduces the content of a fusible component Na2O in a heat-resistant binder, and it will lead to the improvement of thermo-mechanical properties of the bundle.

Abstract. Negative situations developing at the prefabricated concrete enterprises are considered; origins of their occurrence are revealed. Results of the scientific study aimed at improving the efficiency of operation of these enterprises under present-day conditions of construction are presented.
