Abstract. New binders in materials science are considered, which are complex systems and consist of separate elements, each of which performs certain tasks. It is shown that work is currently underway to improve the properties of binders, which opens up new possibilities for their use. In addition, innovative synthetic materials are being created that are lighter, stronger and more environmentally friendly than traditional ones. Binders obtained using industrial waste are of the greatest interest in the field of construction. These include slag-alkali cement and ferrock, which consists of iron powder, fly ash, methacaolin and limestone powder with the main share of iron waste from the steel industry. Research is also underway to improve the technical characteristics and expand the scope of use of an environmentally friendly natural material - serpentonite. New functional binding materials based on serpentonite were obtained as a result of studies of composite compositions containing low-temperature magnesium hydrosilicate. An overview of the new binders presented in the article, their scope of application, and advantages over other materials form the basis for further analytical and research studies.
