Abstract. The issues of the application of the high strain dynamic testing for monitoring the process of immersion of driven piles are considered. The purpose of the work is to analyze the possibilities of the method based on the principles of the wave theory of impact, as applied to the process of foundation construction using driven piles. The tasks of the work included: monitoring the process of immersing piles during field studies to confirm that their bearing capacity corresponds to the design values, identifying opportunities for optimizing the design and determining damage to the pile during driving. Work on two objects was carried out using a hardware complex manufactured in the United States, case and beta methods were used for data processing. Monitoring of the pile driving process at the first object demonstrates a sharp increase in the resistance to driving of piles when they are buried in a load-bearing layer of dense sand, the actual bearing capacity is almost twice the design value. The bearing capacity of a pile of shorter length according to the monitoring results was also confirmed by static tests of one of the piles. The results of monitoring the process of sinking piles at the first object make it possible to conclude that the method using the principles of the high strain dynamic testing can be successfully used to monitor the process of immersing driven piles. In addition, the obtained data on the change in the bearing capacity of the pile depending on the depth of its immersion make it possible to adjust design solutions to increase their reliability and economic efficiency. According to the results of tests of the driven composite pile at the second object, its destruction was revealed, which occurred during the driving process. An indirect confirmation of this is the data from the pile driving log. Successfully detected destruction of the pile at the second object indicates the prospects of using the beta method for promptly obtaining information about the defects arising during the pile driving. When performing a high-quality welded joint of a composite driven pile at the junction, there are no phenomena that affect the result of using the beta method to detect damage to the pile.
