Restoration Of Cultural Heritage Sites: The Experience Of The Capital's Metropolis

Abstract. In the article, the author seeks to determine the places of restoration work and activities for the protection of monuments of architectural heritage in the system of measures related to the organization of the architectural and planning environment of the Russian capital. It is shown that thanks to state and private financing of restoration activities, cultural heritage objects acquire a second life. These objects in the space of a modern metropolis perform a city-forming function, increase the visual qualities of the urban environment, and contribute to the development of tourism. The article considers the features of financing restoration work, provides an assessment of private investment programs for the restoration of cultural heritage sites. Conducting restoration works at cultural heritage sites is assessed. The methods used by the author in his research are retrospective analysis of literary sources, a comparative historical method, general scientific methods of inductive generalization of facts. It is concluded that the amount of funding for restoration works, as well as works on the protection of cultural heritage objects, is determined by the level of development of the historical consciousness of citizens, the interest of the society itself in the preservation of historical buildings.
