    Abstract. The review prepared on the basis of domestic literary sources and the author's own experience examines the history of the emergence and implementation of key ideas that determined the development of the constructive form of high-rise facilities of communication objects. A revolutionary breakthrough here was the transition to designs with optimal aerodynamic shapes, which began in the 40s of the last century, when "streamlined radio towers". Further, this idea was improved, and a tubular barrel design was proposed for the mast structures. A number of other innovations in high-rise construction are associated with the use of rails that provide rigidity for masts with steeply dipping guys and with the creation of mast structures united by guys into a single system. Information is given on measures to combat vibrations, on the designs of antenna networks, on the ideas of asymmetric arrangement of tower structures for television antennas and on special methods of ensuring rotational rigidity in systems with highly directional antennas.
