  • Adoption of Technology of UV-Disinfection of Wastewater at Treatment Facilities of the Kursk Atomic Power Station

    The problem of wastewater disinfection is one of the most actual for public and industrial water supply and wastewater disposal systems. The use of chlorine and chlorine-containing reagent for these purposes is accompanied with serious negative consequences for the natural environment. The UV-disinfection method has advantages over other oxidizing disinfection methods.

    The dependence of strength parameters of the building structures and thermal losses of buildings on weather and climate impacts in the form of moisture condensation and environment temperature is exposed. The basic scheme of the automated control of thermophysical characteristics of ventilated air ensuring the optimization of the thermal protection of a premise and reliability of operation of building structures is presented.

  • Variation Criterion of Critical Levels of Deformable Body Internal Energy

    Issues of the construction of a criterion of energy critical levels are considered. A formulation of the criterion is presented; an example of the use of this method in the task about tension of a restrained rod with concentrated force at the other end is given. The model of the classical experiment conducted in the course of strength of materials, explains some of the phenomena observed during the destruction of metal samples and plywood specimens.

  • About Hydraulic Shocks in Steel Lead Water Conduits of Borehole Water Intakes and Their Replacement with Fiberglass Pipelines

    The replacement of steel pipes of lead water conduits with fiberglass pipes is proposed. An in-depth analysis of all possible variants of unfavorable factors eliminating such replacement of pipeline material, the most important of which are possible values of a pressure jump during the hydraulic shock in comparison with the strength characteristics of the pipeline, is made.

  • On the Issue of Technical Maintenance of Water Wells

  • On a Particular Attitude to Snow Load in the RF Standards

    Victor I. MALY
    The provisions of the methodology of snow load normalizing in the Russian standards leading to a significant underestimation of the calculated load value are critically analyzed. It is shown that the declared validity of calculated value does not take into account a quite significant role of service life of the building and therefore it is not relevant to the tasks of design, as realized in the service life of one year. Recommendations based on a comparison with the rules of other countries and the well-known results of the probabilistic-optimization approach are formulated.

  • On Influence of Small Distributed Mass on Stability of an Non-Conservative Elastic Rod

    The influence of additional small distributed mass on the results of the dynamic analysis of stability of a cantilever bar is considered. The example cited in the article shows that the introduction of small distributed mass into the non-conservative system can in discrete step reduce the critical load.

  • Effect of Optimization When Selecting the Methods of Transformation of 5-Storey Mass Development

    Results of the studies conducted at MNIITEP for selection of rational methods of transformation of the mass 5-storey developments in Moscow are presented. Calculations with due regard for discounting of cash flows in due course show the economic effect of partial replacement (30-40%) of a basic development for a new one comparing with its full replacement. For optimization of correlation of transformation methods when reconstructing the development it is proposed to develop the calculation program which can be used at the preproject stage for the purpose of forecast of economic effect of measures up to ensuring their full payback.

  • Taking into Account THE EXTENT of a Finite Element of a SHELL in the Course of Calculation of Reinforcement of Monolithic Floor Slabs

    Methods of calculation of reinforcement of slabs of monolithic reinforced concrete frames in a vicinity of columns are offered. Results of the calculation of reinforcement using the linear-elastic models with a slab resting on a column in one node are used in these methods. In so doing the square of reinforcement is specified with due regard for nonlinear properties of reinforced concrete and preset profiles of columns.

The use of polystyrene foam concrete in the capacity of heat insulation and constructional material lessens the weight of a structure and decreases the load on the foundation.

    Principles of increasing the service life of polymer concrete structures operating under the combined impact of inorganic acids and high temperatures are formulated. The use of a disperse modifier on the basis of alumina-chrome-phosphate compounds is stipulated. The necessity of mechanical-chemical activation of structures glued is proved.

  • Production of Screw Self-Drilling Anchors in Russia

    Screw self-drilling anchors produced by well-known firms "ISCHEBECK" (name of the anchor - "TITAN"), "DYWIDAG", "BELLOLI" and other companies are widely used in world practice. The technology of production of analogue anchors "Atlant" by the Russian enterprise "Special Construction Equipment" is considered. Peculiarities of technological modes of helical surface knurling making it possible to produce the anchor ties with high strength properties not worse than similar parameters of foreign anchors are presented.
